I avoid to get political on my Twitter since I post all of my weeb shits in here but damn, Philippines' current state is fucked up, passing a law that avoids people to have freedom of speech. The details about that will be on this thread. Don't be afraid to retweet if you want.

Based on the tweets and news that I found from my friends back in PH, the Senate is passing a law called "Anti-Terrorism Act" and now on its final stages, waiting for President Duterte to sign it to be finalized.

It sounds good. Yeah, it SOUNDS good. But after going through the bill, the term terrorism includes stuff that opposes the current government. Meaning, we cannot have peaceful protest to voice out our opinions against the administration.

I know I don't study law and I'm not in Philippines anymore but, I remember going through the 1987 Philippine Constitution and something is not right.

Article 3 Section 4 of 1987 Philippine Constitution:

No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.

Article 3 Section 18 Paragraph 1 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution

No person shall be detained solely by reason of his political beliefs and aspirations.

Why is it dangerous? Here's how they define terrorism in the anti-terror act - threatening, planning, training, facilitating, proposing, and inciting to terrorism.

What do they meant of "inciting"? That means they can use protests, criticism of the government, and other things that is not on their side as an act of terrorism.

It really is worrying for the majority of the citizens since this can be easily abused by people on the government since they can just say that someone "incited" into an act of terrorism whenever they want.

So that's it. Enough politics for me, I'm back on my weeb shits. Just here to inform anyone about the current situation and controversy about Philippines.
