About continuity of learning, I appreciate that you acknowledge the importance of E-Learning and you’re looking forward to strengthening facilities to increase access, especially to university students.
However, you leave us guessing about when we should expect it to start ..1/ https://twitter.com/janetmuseveni/status/1279139664344072193
As per your communication madam, you’re only telling us what we were expecting you to say, and deliberately leaving out the issues we want you to touch. Currently, downtown Kampala is operating at full capacity and business is going on as usual...2/
We’re yet to register any cases from there despite the evident disobedience of social distancing. This can only mean that community spread is so low- if at all it’s even there. Meanwhile, these businesses have been in operation for more than 14 days (the magic covid number)..3/
I so want to think that this presents a pointer that schools can be opened and there’s chance that the spread won’t be there.
Even as you promise strengthening of E-Learning facilities, we both know that this country lacks the capacity to strengthen them within 2 weeks..4/
Even if we gave you a year, you’d still come back with the same excuses. That said, have you considered opening schools and having students tested on a regular basis? At least, this is more realistic as per the context of our country...5/
I may not have the clear figures on my fingertips, but at least, more than 60% of students stay in the same vicinity with their institutions of learning. If they’re not sick in their homes, what makes you think they can only find the virus at school? ..6/
Madam, these students are visiting and interacting with one another during this covid holiday and they’re not getting sick. Unless you want to convince us that the virus is being manufactured in schools, I don’t see why you shouldn’t let them go back to school...7/
I also appreciate that in your statement, you keep bringing in “the context of our nation”. You know as much as we do, that children in any household shall always partake in house chores. Therefore, expecting a parent deep in Kaberebere to supervise their child as he/she...8/
...watches TV or listens to a radio is not only shallow thinking but it also demonstrates complete detachment from the exact affairs of our nation.
Therefore, expect no learning to take place on TVs and radios dear First Lady...9/
About universities, I didn’t see you taking into account the fact that most finalists were in the middle of their research projects (a requirement for completion of their courses). As a person who was undertaking one, let me take this opportunity to educate you that such ..10/
...research projects are time dependent. Resumption of school will mean that one has to start afresh as most laboratory samples are now null and void, hence, can’t be subjected to any scientific analysis.
Madam, when students are scheduling timetables for their projects,...11/
...they distribute their activities throughout the 4 months of the semester. But, I don’t think that even if you opened universities today, you’d give us the four full months. That leaves me wondering how these students shall be guided as far as their projects are concerned..12/
Having uttered all my nonsense, I request that you start releasing statements that are in sync with the exact state of affairs of our education institutions and not mere communications for the sake of communicating.

Thank you,
Angry management 📌💯
