Good evening. I would like to take this time to do some serious reflecting on what I think of my country, the United States of America. [1/9]
On a normal year, the Fourth of July would be a fun occasion to celebrate. I like some good BBQ. However, things here haven& #39;t been so stellar and we as a country have recently had to reflect on what we are, how we got here, and what needs to change. [2/9]
I wanna make my stance clear: I am a patriot. I love and care deeply my country. I think that there& #39;s a lot of good people and places here in the US. I think that, for the most part, this country has a foundation of good principles. [3/9]
At the same time though, that foundation was built through blood sacrifice and those principles haven& #39;t been fully applied in practice, not now and not 244 years ago. A lot of people are hurt and there& #39;s many wounds that have yet to be healed. [4/9]
I don& #39;t have any solutions for how we can fix our country besides perhaps some better education. We should invest more in making sure that our future minds are better than we will ever be. It would help bridge some gaps and brings us closer together as one big people. [5/9]
I don& #39;t think that making this country better for everyone is a lost cause. So many selfless people worked so hard over the past 100 years alone to make our country more equal for the greater good and I think it would be a disservice to let their work be in vain. [6/9]
It hurts me to see things be the way they are. I wish that all these horror stories would end. Is it wrong for me to think that the good outweighs the bad? Is this country worth celebrating during these times? Is my love for my country misguided and misplaced? [7/9]
