I come bearing opinions. Ok. So there are so many great ways to start. But the nerd in me suggests 1. Get a book...I& #39;m a super fan of the "24-Hour Wine Expert". 2. Get a couple of good starter bottles of cheapish, good wine. I recommend Bogle Red Blend 2017 (about $10-12);
As weird as it sounds, Barefoot has a really good organic chardonnay that& #39;s a nice white. Not sure of the price, but my mom buys it and we are cheap, so its probably $6-8.; Mondavi also had an excellent Meritage in 2015 or 2016, but there more recent years are still solid.
In my opinion, and from what I& #39;ve read, if you are looking for a good bang for your buck, go for a mid-range bottle from a newer wine region (like Argentina, New Zealand, Chile...) as opposed to a pricier bottle from the old world (read France, Italy) or California.
