Take a good look at this picture. The bravest men in India, the only three Param Vir Chakra awardees alive! Two of them, Yogendra Yadav & Sanjay Kumar won their PVCs on this day in Kargil, 21 years ago.
The 3rd of course is the legendary Bana Singh of Siachen!

Yogendra Yadav, 18 Grenadiers, won his at Tiger Hill. He took multiple bullets while climbing a steep cliff face but managed to lob his grenade & destroy the enemy bunker. The army thought he was dead, as there were 2 Yogendra Yadavs, before they realized that he was in hospital

Sanjay Kumar, J & K Rifles, was formerly a taxi driver in Delhi. He got into the army on his 3rd attempt.
That morning in Muskoh valley, he charged a machine bunker alone, killed the soldiers manning it & then used their heavy machine gun on the fleeing enemy soldiers

Since 1947, just 21 Param Vir Chakras have been awarded. 15 of them have been posthumous. Karam Singh(1948), Dhan Singh(1962) & Hoshiar Singh(1971) were the only other living recipients.
