What’s especially problematic about this is that science aspires to be the process by which we mitigate our biases — which we all have. Not saying it’s always perfect — in fact far from it. But self-reflection is a key part of any research.
Also, if you happen to be doing “research” that finds the race or culture you happen to be a part of somehow scores higher on metrics your race or culture created, then you seriously need to do a bit more “leaning over backward” than, say, computing a parton distribution.
