things that Pacific Islanders do that needs to just stop: a thread
• taking photos/videos of deceased loved ones in their coffins or at the morgue
• sweeping sexual assault under the rug because it’s “shameful” on the victims family
• making black jokes about melanesians
• justifying ignorance with the bible 
• donating hundreds and thousands to the church like its competition
• publicly shaming people on Facebook & airing out other people’s business (OLP this ones for you)
• referring to black peoples as “meauli” - they’re not black things they’re “tagata uli” - black PEOPLE.
• turning up to peoples houses unannounced then expecting them to serve you...
• keeping your daughters on strict lockdown but letting your son be free to do whatever he wants
• defending rapists and sexual abusers because they’re family
• asking for and pressuring your family over seas for thousands of dollars for fa’alavelave / guilting them into getting a loan for you
• adopting kids from the islands to use as slaves and justifying it by saying you provide a roof over their head
• normalising physical violence that could kill as “discipline”
• gatekeeping culture - only allowing “full” blooded children to learn about their traditions & cultures but not afakasi children
• favouring light coloured children over dark coloured children / favouring afakasi kids
• referring to muslims as “fa’apapomu” - “bombers”
• mixing religion with culture - the church is the church, the culture is the culture, they are not the same.
• only accepting trans people when it’s beneficial - we see you talking shit but still wanting them to decorate your dirty ass church hall
• invalidating facts because it goes against social norm
• claiming children with disabilities are curses from God
• invalidating mental illness with superstition
• hiring inexperienced traditional healers and paying a heavy price tag for some ground up laupele and water
• calling men, particularly little boys, “fafa” or “poofta” for showing emotion
• using “Fafa” as an insult
• making your daughters test their virginity/take the white sheet test on their wedding night
• purposely making fun of chiefly women while they do their duties, especially women who have inherited their fathers titles
• parents not being happy with their kids choosing a career in the arts - you can be anything you want as long as it’s a lawyer, doctor, engineer, scientist, accountant, politician, or something high paying.
• when your parents compare your cousins to you but you know your cousins are just as bad as you if not worse
• parents competing of who’s child is more successful
