As we prepare to return to school, we need to consider the voices we are not hearing. Not to discount the concerns of others, but to ensure that we advocate for the needs of those on the margins. 1/4
Many of our students and families are in survival mode right now. They will trust that schools and educators will make decisions that are in the best interest of their children. We must take that responsibility seriously. 2/4
Equity was an issue before coronavirus. It will only be exacerbated by the pandemic. Communities of color and communities of poverty have been disproportionately impacted. Schools cannot be a place that perpetuates that inequity. 3/4
We have a responsibility to all of our students, but we must be especially diligent in ensuring that our students and families on the margins receive the holistic support necessary for them to be safe and successful. 4/4
