So obviously I give D&D a lot of shit on my twitter. And honestly I've been unable to morally justify playing D&D since the Fail Forward article I linked, six years ago. I don't like the rules but more importantly WOTC has hurt so, so, so many people that need help and support.
Getting kinda serious here for a minute but as players of games it's our job not to give a platform to WOTC's abhorrent behavior. No rewriting modules to fix them, no streaming them, no talking about them, all that kind of stuff.
My current favorite game for low-fantasy dungeon crawly murderhobos is Root: the TTRPG. Its default setting is furries fighting against imperialism, but I'm currently playtesting a friend's hack to port it to other settings, and the results are promising! https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/288366/Root-The-Tabletop-Roleplaying-Game-Quickstart
I recommend doing deep dives on http://itch.io and drivethrurpg in general for TTRPGs. There's way more out there than you'd expect, and you might find you like a type of game you never would have expected to!
Ok, that's it for this thread, gonna close out by RTing some links so you can support victims of WOTC directly and check out their cool games/streams/etc!
