I cannot emphasise enough the need to verify @asexuality. AVEN is the largest resource for the ace community. They're constantly active in promoting other aces' experiences, art and bringing awareness to our community.

#VerifyAVEN
By not verifying AVEN, you are preventing questioning aces and the wider community from discovering and learning about the asexual community.

You're ignoring and refusing to acknowledge the great work AVEN has done to contribute to our community.

#VerifyAVEN
You're preventing questioning aces from knowing that there's a large resource available to them that can connect and expose them to the wider aspec community.

#VerifyAVEN
I wasn't aware @asexuality even existed on twitter because it was unverified and didn't know it was connected to the AVEN network that I'd used to find my labels.

#VerifyAVEN
Once I followed @asexuality, I cannot emphasise enough how it exposed me to more knowledge and other aces and aspec identifying people on twitter.

They're constantly working on promoting asexual content, whether that's information or other openly ace accounts.

#VerifyAVEN
It truly astounded me just how much aspec content exists within twitter, yet for 7 YEARS on twitter while I was questioning my sexuality and wasn't aware of what asexuality was, I had not the slightest clue that I had a community at my fingertips.

#VerifyAVEN
@TwitterOpen a few days ago you posted this video that mentions the need to bring more awareness to the asexual community.

Let's talk about that.

#VerifyAVEN https://twitter.com/TwitterOpen/status/1278076761943748608?s=19
The purpose of this video was to ask what we wanted in future prides and to promote that positive message of being #AlwaysProud in the LGBT+ community.

It rings empty when @TwitterOpen has mention of the lack of awareness of the asexual community within the video

#VerifyAVEN
You have the opportunity @Twitter @TwitterOpen @TwitterSupport to make that difference here on this platform. You are able to make that change, yet all we get is lip service within a video.

#VerifyAVEN
You cannot even feign being unaware of this issue. Within the comments of that tweet there's plenty of people on YOUR platform telling you that this is an issue.

The hashtag #VerifyAVEN has been circling around for quite some time now.
Yet our community is not acknowledged by @Twitter @TwitterOpen @TwitterSupport despite how vocal we are about the issue.

@asexuality has been around since 2009 here on twitter. At this point, it's purposeful to be ignoring and not acknowledge our community.

#VerifyAVEN
@TwitterOpen as the LGBT+ community on twitter, I ask of you to stand by us.

I ask anyone that identifies as LGBT+ or is an ally to stand by us too.

Because this isn't right.

#VerifyAVEN
If you're still sceptical about whether this is an issue, search comments containing @TwitterOpen @Twitter @TwitterSupport @TwitterComms or #VerifyAVEN and see for yourself how far back and how often people have been tweeting about this.

#VerifyAVEN
Aphobia is so very prominent within Twitter, the recent #SpongebobIsGay news shows that. @theyasminbenoit's tweets that get attacked by aphobic remarks proves that.

Twitter does little to prevent Aphobia on its platform.

#VerifyAVEN
There's an a few aphobic block list accounts such as @aphobelist that help aspecs have some form of support because Twitter just won't.

The last I checked a few months ago, this list had reached upwards of 60k people blocked.

I worry about how high this is now.

#VerifyAVEN
If you've made it this far, thank you for hearing one aspec person ranting into the void.

I would highly encourage helping us reach @Twitter and other accounts with #VerifyAVEN, whether you identify, are a part of the LGBT+ community or simply an ally.
It's okay if you're not sure what to say, but do express that being unrecognised by a platform @asexuality has been on since 2009 isn't okay.

Add your own voice to supporting AVEN being recognised for its work. Just do what you can to make us heard.

#VerifyAVEN
As part of the LGBT+ community, it's on all of us within it to lift each other up whenever and however we can.

AVEN is important to the Asexual community.

It should be important to you too that Twitter has a place for all of us here.

#VerifyAVEN
If you're an ally or someone that wasn't aware of #VerifyAVEN, thank you for reading this. I do hope now that you're aware that you'll add your voice behind this too.
That's it from me, I do hope that with enough voices supporting #VerifyAVEN that @TwitterOpen @Twitter @TwitterSupport @TwitterComms will recognise us here on the platform, do better to make change happen and support our community.
