Destiny of a Jedi: Luke Skywalker and Kanan Jarrus similarities.
1. INSECURITIES TO TEACH
Luke and Kanan are flawed masters. They don't think they're able to train someone because of past situations.

"I can't be what she needs me to be"

"I don't truly believe I can succeed"
2. LACK OF CONFIDENCE AND HIDING
After going blind, Kanan suffers of lack of confidence and fear walking away from his friends.
After failing with his own nephew, Luke walks away from everyone thinking he failed his sister. Act that left him without self confidence and with fear.
3. CONSEQUENCES
None of them were there when they were needed the most. Consequently, they were left with grief and guilt.
4. DISCONNECTING FROM THE FORCE

"I didn't see you. Nothing from you. You've closed yourself off from the Force. Of course you have"

"I distance myself from everyone... from the force too"
5. ACCEPTING MISTAKES
After knowing that there are people who need them, they accept their flaws.

"I was weak... unwise"

"Fear, brief, anger, that's how they see me... that's how I see myself"
6. FINAL LESSON

"Pass on what you have learned. Strength. Mastery. But weakness, folly, failure also. Yes, failure most of all. The greatest teacher, failure is"

"If you can see yourself... you will never be truly blind Kanan Jarrus, Jedi Knight"
7. RECONNECTING

"Leia"
"Luke"

"Kanan... where are you?"
"Ezra... I'm here"
8. TOGETHER AGAIN

"I'm just glad you're here... At the end"

"Ezra, I'm right here. It's ok... I got you"
9. WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A JEDI
They finally discovered the true purpose of a Jedi. Giving the best version of themselves in one last act.

"Confronting fear is the destiny of a Jedi"

"I was a coward. But now I know something stronger than fear, far stronger... the force"
10. SACRIFICE

"Except it wasn't sadness. It was peace and purpose"

"Kanan found the moment when he was needed most and he did what he had to do... for everyone"
11. GUIDING AFTER DEATH
Death isn't the end for a Jedi.

"There are ways those who have passed on may still guide or influence the living"
12. LEGACY
Luke and Kanan guided their apprentices after death to help them do the right thing.

"Rey, the force will be with you... always"

"And remember, the force will be with you... always"
A Jedi doesn't need to be perfect, they can make mistakes but in the end they overcome their fears because that's what it means to be a Jedi. For these reasons Luke and Kanan are definitely the best Jedi for me.
