When are ppl gonna realize it's not about individual consumer choices like fast fashion vs. sustainable fashion but imperialism which relies on and cheap labor from the Global South that's the actual problem and sustainability under capitalism isn't exempt from that! https://twitter.com/eleanorxneale/status/1279078593851686912
The workers who are getting paid literal cents per day in Asia to sew garments don't care if some white girls in America or wherever decide to thrift or buy sustainable instead of fast fashion. STOP making this issue about how low income ppl in the Global North spend their $.
The issue is beyond poor ppl in USA/Europe buying fast fashion because they can't afford sustainable options. We wouldn't even need sustainability in the first place if the Global North didn't pillage the rest of the world. If u care about ethical fashion, imperialism is ur enemy
And I am tired of fashion people deluding themselves into thinking otherwise. Even if u only buy from sustainable brands and thrift, if ur not actively against imperialism, your "ethical" consumer choices don't mean anything. You're not doing anything to help garment workers.
Sorry so many typos in this thread but I cannot get myself to care right now lol
