This show exceeded my wildest expectations. Just the perfect mix of the heart of the books updated with modern social issues. A++ female friendships and empowerment. The actresses are the right age and they’re phenomenal. #babysittersclub

I really appreciated how the club was made more inclusive. Mary Anne is black, Dawn is Latinx and her dad is gay, and Stoneybrook is a lot more diverse too. Hoping for some specific LGBT rep as the show goes on – YOU KNOW WHO I MEAN. #BabySittersClub
Kristy (Sophie Grace) is take charge and bossy without being annoying. I say this as someone who is NOT a Kristy person – you will love her. Every scene with Kristy and her mom ( @AliciaSilv!!) will squeeze your heart in the best way. #babysittersclub
Momona Tamada is everything you could ever hope for in a Claudia. Her bubbly vulnerability, friendship feels with Stacey, determination with her art, adorable flirty glances at Trevor Sandbourne, A+ banter with Janine. #BabySittersClub
And I’m thinking, wow, what an utterly brilliant young actress, and then, oh. Those scenes when Mimi has her stroke. WOW. I was blown away. #BabySittersClub
There’s also a beautiful scene in the hospital where Claudia and Janine talk about Mimi’s history in a WWII internment camp. And Claudia says, “I don’t understand how someone could do that to a family.” And Janine says, “I don’t understand why they still do.” #babysittersclub
Also, Claudia’s platform shoes. And eyeliner. And solid gold jumper. And patchwork jacket. And plaid pants. And seashell earrings. And rainbow macramé sweater. AND RUTH BADER GINSBURG INSPIRED MOD DRESS THAT SHE WEARS FOR GOOD LUCK WHEN SHE TAKES A MATH TEST. #babysittersclub
Which brings me to...the girls’ wedding looks. OMG. The puffed sleeves on Claudia’s dress alone. Anne of Green Gables would write sonnets about them. #babysittersclub
Mary Anne is perfect, and I’m always extra critical with Mary Anne’s bc she’s the one I identified with as a kid. Malia Baker’s kindness and shyness are spot on, but she isn’t a shy person trope. #babysittersclub
The moment where she declares she wants to be secretary, when she corrects a doctor and nurse who are misgendering her trans babysitting charge/sittee, when she talks to her dad, when she directs a play, when she kisses Logan. Mary Anne is powerful. #babysittersclub
Also: Mary Anne’s perfectly timed, perfectly dry sense of humor.

I was nervous about whether I would like Dawn going in, only because her clothes are more 90’s than ethereal, California girl-vibe, but Xochitl Gomez immediately won me over. #babysittersclub
Her friendship with Mary Anne, and even Kristy who is flat out mean to her, and the revolution against classism she stages at summer camp mean I basically have to love her forever. #babysittersclub
Shay Rudolph’s portrayal of Stacey’s journey with Type I diabetes – her comfort level with telling people (she goes from hiding it to wearing a bedazzled insulin pump), her ability to manage it herself, the way she sets an entire room full of grown ups straight. #babysittersclub
Also, there’s this one particular moment when Stacey mouths thank you at Kristy, and IT IS EVERYTHING. #babysittersclub
Also, the actresses who play Claudia and Stacey are friends IRL, and they have virtual sleepovers where they stay up all night talking and make pancakes in the morning. #babysittersclub
All the supporting cast is really great too. I legitimately liked almost every character. EVEN MALLORY. #BabySittersClub
