So, today I had a plan. I was going to tweet about my idea for a monster for Monster Care Squad for @SandyPugGames . And then we reached, like, one and a half our funding goal in one day.
Anyway I& #39;mma probably thread over time but like, check out MCS. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sandypuggames/monster-care-squad">https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Aight, so the thread I had planned for hyping Monster Care Squad, I was going to share the monster I& #39;ve called dibs on adapting for Ald-Amura. The lindorm. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindworm
And">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lind... I had a specific lindorm in mind, too - you& #39;ll see that it shows up in tales of Ragnar Lothbrok

When I was little, I was introduced to Peter Madsen& #39;s Valhalla comics ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valhalla_(comics)">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valh... ). They had them at the local library. As the wiki article says, it was kind of a Scandinavian TinTin or Asterix. I was into norse mythology so this was extremely my jam.
The album "Odin& #39;s Wager" has ol greycloak doing a wander and having various vignettes meeting warriors. Odin& #39;s meeting Ragnar, who fights the poison-blooded lindorm, left a deep impression on me. In true viking style, Ragnar wins by cunning. He covers himself in thick, dried mud
to avoid being hit by the deadly poison blood/spit, and cuts that thing down.
I& #39;mma be honest, I never read the Saxo account, so IDK how close it is to that, but it was glorious art and made an impression. So I& #39;mma steal this shit, I thought.

So, the traits of the Lindorm: Poison blood, that checks with the false gold. Endless growth. Check, that& #39;s kinda cool. Maybe I can do a rebirth thing. Great cuddler (the babby was a pet for Þóra, after all). Also it& #39;s a guardian type thing. Giant norse snek friend.
In Norwegian, "linnorm" is also used for sea serpents, and our most famous cryptid, seljordsormen, is a linnorm. So obviously I& #39;m going to draw on that. Thus my idea for a monster for Ald-Amura is to put a giant guardian snek in some sort of norse-inspired fjordlands.
There& #39;s a lot more I need to figure out. Powers. What it does for the people. What its rampage looks like. A couple suggestions pointing towards a cure and unique challenges. And a Monster Gift Move. I am going to have a lot of fun figuring that out.
And that& #39;s thanks to all the people backing Monster Care Squad ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sandypuggames/monster-care-squad">https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/... ) which went up like 300 USD in the time it took me to write this thread. I think we might get to do a print run. If any of this sounds cool, please consider backing.
It& #39;ll be rad.
