I was gonna do a Mnemonic thread tonight to promote the Kickstarter but Wizards has me angry.

No matter what you’ve built in their world, I promise you it will be better once you remove it from their world and put it in your own.
Pull your stuff from their store, file off the serial numbers, and put it up on itch, and I promise you will have a better product and a lighter conscience.

Go do it.
I’m not saying this as somebody who’s never played DnD or MtG. I played both, for years. I was there for the edition wars, I spent most of my allowance on magic card booster packs.

I wrote the new manual for Baldur’s Gate.

I’m telling you. It’s not worth your soul.
It would be BETTER to stop making games altogether than to let these racist grifters steal your success and take credit for your stories.

It would be better. But here’s the thing: you don’t have to stop making games to stop making DnD products.
When you leave their ecosystem, their toxic waste of an ecosystem, you’ll find that the indie space is full of hackable, moddable, easy to learn systems that are ripe for your ideas.
And I promise you that most if not all of us are not going to try and take half your money.
That’s it, end of thread, retweet away. I don’t care what 6e looks like. If Wizards is making it, if it’s owned by Hasbro, I’m not interested.
