Washington didn't call the first cabinet meeting until November 26, 1791, which meant that the debates over the debts and the bank took place in individual consultations and correspondence. Cabinet Battle #2? That for sure happened, like 51 times in 1793. #HATM #Hamilfilm /2

A few other notes. First, cabinet meetings were often super contentious, so this depiction is pretty accurate. Jefferson later described the meetings: "Hamilton & myself were daily pitted in the cabinet like two cocks." Ouch. #HATM #Hamilfilm /3

Washington didn't mind the conflict. In fact, he found it helpful. The debates allowed him to see the strengths and weaknesses of both positions. #HATM #Hamilfilm /4

Second, AH's criticism of TJ's war-time record. Jefferson's rocky tenure as governor of Virginia haunted him for the rest of his career. Some of it was his fault, but other circumstances were out of his control (the British invaded Virginia twice). #HATM #Hamilfilm /5

Third, AH's point that TJ didn't fight in the war hints at their divergent perspectives on republican virtue and different presentations of masculinity. AH's masculinity was based on military valor, while TJ's came from education, culture, and worldliness. #HATM #Hamilfilm /6
