why do people from other countries get so mad that people from the US are called Americans like, genuinely curious what we're supposed to use as a demonym for the USA instead?
like both for Republic of the Congo and Democratic Republic of the Congo they both use "Congolese" as their demonym, so you would use context to determine which country is being discussed, how's that different from people from the US vs. people from the Americas
80% of these alternatives are fucking garbage
personally if we HAVE to differentiate between people from the American continents and people from the US we should say USAmerican
but since that's not formally accepted idk what you would use in like, english-language academia or research papers or such things where you are discussing the country and its people
