- ATEEZ STORYLINE THEORY -

from SMN to ZERO
— a thread

before i begin, i’d like to say that i’m a dumbtiny. therefore this theory is formed by piecing together other theories such as:
-more than only two ateez groups
-utopia vs dystopia
-the man in white
-turning back time

another heads up i will only be talking about the mvs and song lyrics. i will also not be talking about any specific members (you guys can help me with that in the replies )

THEORY:

to begin with, i wanna explain the two two dimensions: utopia and dystopia. they both coexist with each other. I DO NOT BELIEVE that utopia is an ”illusion” and dystopia is the “reality”

to understand my theory, try to keep in mind that UTOPIA and DYSTOPIA are two separate realities. both are real. but i’ll talk about them separately. let’s talk about UTOPIA first. the next three tweets in the thread is the BASIC story line that everyone knows already.

UTOPIA: say my name/halahala

in smn, we are introduced to normal ateez and halateez. we know that ateez are trying to find their treasure but halateez stands in their way. we are convinced that normal ateez are good and halateez are bad. they are both after the same treasure.

UTOPIA: treasure/pirate king

halateez does not make an appearance in either videos. based on the lyrics of the song, i assumed that normal ateez defeated halateez. they said no one can stop them from finding their treasure hinting that they won.

UTOPIA: wave

i know that illusion technically comes before wave but let me explain. wave doesn’t reveal much tbh. i take it as a celebration song, that they’ve finally found their treasure so they’re having fun and celebrating their win.

UTOPIA: illusion

it’s revealed at the end of this mv that everything was just a dream (the flying boat, the island) this dream of theirs expresses their desire to continue the adventure and get more treasure. they’ll continue to chase down those who stand in their way (halateez)

AURORA: the gate between utopia and dystopia

in aurora we see ateez walking on a long bridge which resembles the one in wonderland. fueled by their dream, they decided to take action and enter another dimension in hopes that they can find more treasure.

DYSTOPIA: wonderland

UTOPIAN ateez has entered DYSTOPIA after being fueled by their desire for more treasure. hence hongjoong’s line: “we’re gonna find new world to be mine.” the ateez shown in this mv is the UTOPIAN ateez who is now living in DYSTOPIA.

now before i move onto answer i’ll explain something real quick. like i said earlier, both of these realities exist at the same time. that means there are FOUR different ateezers. UTOPIA has two and DYSTOPIA also has two. they mirror each other.

KEEP IN MIND: UTOPIAN normal ateez is now in the DYSTOPIAN world (wonderland) therefore there are three current groups residing in DYSTOPIA

DYSTOPIA: answer

now lets look away from UTOPIAN normal ateez and focus on the DYSTOPIAN normal ateez and DYSTOPIAN halateez. it seems like their battle against each other has not yet ended. instead the events play out differently here in DYSTOPIA +

DYSTOPIAN normal ateez and halateez decide to reconcile and form a friendship with each other and to SHARE the treasure with each other. hence the dining room scene where all 16 people are present in the room having a meal together.

however things did not go the way they planned. a man dressed in white showed up and destroyed everything and everyone. if all 16 members are present during the meal (not one person is wearing white) then who’s this man? and why did he destroy everything?

the answer: one of the UTOPIAN normal ateez members that have entered this dimension earlier. this man might be the true villain of the story. you guys can discuss who it might be. it makes sense if this man is actually a UTOPIAN ateez member +

UTOPIAN normal ateez has already found their treasure. however that did not stop them from wanting more. their desire grew stronger (read the last few lyrics to precious) therefore they travelled to the DYSTOPIAN world to get treasure from there as well +

however they were disappointed when they saw that DYSTOPIAN ateez plans to share their treasure with halateez instead. thus the man in white chose to destroy everyone in that room.

the man in white yearns for a different outcome. he turns back time. the hourglass turns upside down and the world resets back to ZERO where a new reality can be made.

im pretty sure this is entirely wrong tbh but it was really fun to think about it and try to piece together. if you don’t agree with me it’s okay!! this is just how i view the entire story but if you wanna discuss specific members’ roles pls do so

i cant expand on this until the mv comes out. the mv might entirely debunk this theory or it might help expand this theory i’m just really excited to see what’s next
