I remember once meeting a guy at a pub. He approached and asked if he could join my friends and I for a game of pool.

While we were playing I got chatting to the him, he was friendly and had worked as a sports coach for many years.
I remember telling him about my 9-5, about my plans to travel, which at that point were round the corner and about how the 9-5 life didn't suit me at all.
When I told him I wouldn’t work a 9-5 for ever he became very offended and his whole demeanour changed.
He instantly assumed by not working a 9-5 I was not whiling to work hard and that offended him. He had worked so hard to get where he was and
he saw me as a young lad who didn’t know his arse from his elbow, who would have a big reality check waiting on my return to the UK.
Our interaction changed from there. He wouldn't accept people succeeding on a path other than his own.

The moral of the story is, there will be many people who try to tell you you can’t do something because they can’t do it.
Pessimists love to pile their doubt on to other people as they are not whiling to see other people succeed and prove them wrong.

I often think about that bloke, and what he’s up to and what I’d say to him now.

I've got a few ebooks I'd love him to read.
