I didn't even try to do an anime thread in the spring, I think, but I have more energy this season, so I'm going to at least start one.
Starting off with Super HxEros, streaming on Funimation

The premise of this show is that bug aliens have invaded earth and are stealing people's horny energy, leaving empty shells behind.
Do I have issues with this premise, especially as an asexual person? Yes.
Was this a major issue I had with this episode? Surprisingly not really.
My biggest issue is that this show doesn't know how to actually be horny.
It's clearly trying, and is also clearly aiming to sell the uncensored home video version, but just having people be naked doesn't make it horny!
If you're looking for an ecchi show, there's definitely much better options out there, and I feel like this show would do better if it leaned more into the super sentai aspect of it. The ending theme was clearly leaning into it, and that part felt like it really worked.
All this being said, I may give this at least another episode, because I'm curious to see whether the second episode will lean more into the horny or super sentai side, and this is looking to be fairly light season anyways.
I swear I'm actually going to continue this thread, I have plenty of thoughts about the anime I've watched over the last week and a half, but right now I'm watching the Gibiate live premiere so I'm going to talk about that
My first impression it's that it has a very 2000s look to it, and also that a show about people turning into monsters heavily emphasized as a virus hits different now than it was probably intended to when it was greenlit
so this show is about trying to cure a virus turning people into monsters, but also about two people traveling to present time from 1600.
even the soundtrack has a 2000s feel to it. I don't dislike this 2000s aesthetic, it's just really unusual right now, especially for something that's not an adaptation of/sequel to something from that era of anime/manga
I'm probably going to rewatch at least some of this when it comes out on Crunchyroll tomorrow, mostly to grab some screenshots.

Anyways, I'm going to try to talk tonight about one or two of the anime I've watched since I started this thread
So Japan Sinks came out last week, it's a true Netflix Original anime, so all 10 episodes were released simultaneously worldwide. It's from Science Saru and an adaptation of a novel.
