And now people are saying abolition "must include psychiatric facilities"????

AND CLAIMING THAT ANYONE WHO *OPPOSES* THIS ARE THE ABLEISTS????

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH Y'ALL??!?? DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW RARE IT IS FOR ANYONE TO BE IN THOSE THINGS INVOLUNTARILY?!? HOW VITAL…
…THEY ARE?!??? WHAT HAPPENS TO PEOPLE WITH SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS WHEN SUCH PLACES GET CLOSED?!??

Come down here to DTES. Hang out with the homeless people here for a bit.

Then I'll tell you a bit about Riverview Hospital, and its closure.
I am constantly horrified by how privileged and isolated some of you all must be when your takes on abolition seem to act like there's just no such thing as violent or dangerous people. And now you apparently think there's also no such thing as people too ill to take care of…
…themselves? Who can't integrate into society normally? Who require in-patient care? Who may not HAVE families or friends to take care of them (and… you know… severe mental illess DOES tend to leave people alienated and all)?

Fucking ridiculous suburban assholes who base…
…your whole political worldview off of movies and social media hot takes.

I believe in prison and police abolition.

But I also know that there's such things as people who pose a danger to others, and/or people with mental illnesses that require in-patient care.
Hell, I've BEEN someone who's required in-patient care.
Saying psychiatric in-patient facilities are ableist is the most absurd projection I've seen from leftists in MONTHS.

"Giving people with disabilities access to appropriate treatment is ABLEIST"

Do you fuckers also think anti-depressants are "brainwashing" and that trans ppl…
…should "just learn to accept their bodies" rather than being "duped by big pharma"? I bet you do!!!
Thinking that psychiatric in-patient facilities should be abolished because the doctors/nurses are often ableist is like saying we should get rid of gender affirming healthcare because so many of the doctors are transphobic gatekeepers.

I can't BELIEVE I actually need to…
…EXPLAIN how CUTTING OFF ACCESS TO TREATMENT does not actually HELP the patient, no matter HOW many problems may exist within the systems by which that treatment is accessed.

And frankly, comparing it to police & prison conditions is disgusting. This isn't Victorian London.

We've actually SEEN what happens when these things are shut down, and it isn't fucking good.
The people trying to counter me are making such shit arguments I don't know if I even be bothering…

Check to see if someone else has already made your point before bringing it up with me, okay?
