This tweet has stuck in my mind, and I can’t help but think of it every time I see something racist being renamed.

ESPN, et al could have referred to Washington’s NFL team as the Pumpkins for the last 25 years, but instead they were enthusiastic about repeating that racist name.
And like, how is that name anything but racist? What the hell is the infatuation with naming your team after native peoples, much less insulting them while doing it?
We have so far to go in this world to end racism, but the first step is probably acknowledging that this shit isn’t accidental. This is purposefully hurtful, and panders to racists.
Also end qualified immunity and, as always, fuck Dan Snyder.
