Deconstruction of Christianity often looks vastly different for Black people and white people and I have been pondering it for months
I’ll just float this out there...when I see some of y’all “deconstruct” but not divest from supremacy.?????? Baby what is you doin? Throwing Jesus away and still at the top of the power ladder. Also only reading and listening to white voices...still centering white issues...
That’s not deconstruction then to me...your bookshelf just got different authors...your walls are the same but maybe a slightly different hue
I’ve realized for awhile that some people would rather be done with Christianity period than listen to voices in the margins and that is...baffling to me
I say all this not to be mean. Often what leads people to examine their faith is vastly different based upon life experiences, personality types, ethnic identity, etc
The deconstruction landscape currently is vocally dominated by a few and it leads some to think that they have to give up their faith rather than embrace the ideas and struggles of other traditions and ethnic backgrounds
I would love to see the deconstruction talks personally led by Black women. I think you would find that the nature of conversation would change drastically. (In a good way)
