I found @PantsuitPolitic because a friend told me that I needed to listen to a specific episode of @JenHatmaker& #39;s podcast. In the previous two years everything I knew about America had been completely turned on its head and I was raw with grief and anger. 1/
I had been working on my BS in Emergency Management and the Criminal Justice classes I was required to take revealed that I had *no idea* how my Gov& #39;t worked and that my ignorance was caused by my whiteness - why pay attention to something that worked so well for *me*? 2/
Add in the & #39;16 election and I was a mess. I had become fluent in communication by snark and my social media posts were...not very grace filled

They& #39;ve taught me to see through the noise that triggers emotions (45s tweets and inflammatory memes) and find the policies that can be discussed or acted upon with grace. 4/
Sarah paints a picture of a world I want, while Beth pumps the brakes and shows how a thriving local Gov& #39;t can create that world. They& #39;ve given me the civic and history lessons that I never got from school. I& #39;ve met so many passionate women who are changing their communities. 5/

I love Sarah& #39;s cackle and Beth& #39;s quiet "Tell me more about that." They have been my "wubie" during this pandemic - hearing Sarah each morning and Beth each evening has reminded me that the world has not fallen completely apart. 7/
Most of all, Sarah and Beth have helped my soul heal. I& #39;m not yet ready to call myself the proud, "flag waving" American that I once was; but I have hope that we can survive this and that, while the US will always be flawed, we can create a land that is equitable for all. 8/
