Somebody who was writing cover captions for Charlton’s romance comics circa 1972 had a pretty distinctive voice.
As @lisagidley pointed out, even if this were specifically a boating magazine, that first sentence would not be much of a hook.

Likewise, the copywriter couldn't decide between the four different possible reactions Audrey was having here (p.s.: you go, Audrey, let's eat fudge & snuggle while we read some cool history books)
