I am deeply offended as a young mother, cancer survivor, and bar applicant, that the NCBLE choose to not respond to my questions, and instead send me a letter from their attorney, who happens to be an older white male. His remarks are disparaging and sexist. 1/ @JosephPatrice
I went to law school later in life. My son was 3 when I started. He was 5 when I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a double mastectomy the day after Christmas. Do not tell me what to do, older white privileged John Nick Fountain. Why am I not allowed to ask questions about 2/
an exam that could quite literally take my life and that of my classmates. The NCBLE is tired of our emails and questions? So, they send it off to their attorneys to send us threatening condescending emails as scare tactics? How is this ok? 3/
Do not talk down to me, older privileged white male. I have been through hard times. And I will spend my time doing exactly what I want. I am not a child. I am not a little girl. I am not an insignificant human being. Do not treat me like one. 4/
Do not treat my classmates like we don’t matter. We matter. We are the future of this profession. Stop trying to silence us. This is EXACTLY THE TIME FOR A POLICY DEBATE. Do not URGE me to minimize distractions. Would you like to come watch my 7 year old while I study? 5/
Do not urge me to do anything. I URGE you, John Nick Fountain and the NCBLE, to not intimidate young attorneys who are not yet under the protections of the professional rules of responsibility. I KNOW that you KNOW this, and are using this as a loophole. 5/
We are being treated as if we have no rights and no say. Again I say, shame on you and shame on the NCBLE for sending me this letter. I encourage anyone who has gotten a letter or email like this to come forward. @ACLU_NC @ACLU @KorematsuCtr @BarExamTracker @NCBEX
Also, @YoungMooreLaw, thanks for the advice. Were you telling me that as their attorney or as mine? Because last I checked, your firm represents me. Maybe do a conflict check next time. @BarPresidents @ABAesq @NCStateBar @NCBAorg
