So last night, when most of our state and even legislators were starting their long weekend, the Senate GOP held a Rules Committee hearing. They want to intervene as a party to a lawsuit overturning abortion restrictions. #mnleg

Not only are they trying to intentionally become defendant to a lawsuit, an anti-choice group called the Life Legal Defense Fund is footing the bill for the Senate's fees.

We are facing a global pandemic. We are grappling with civil unrest due to police brutality. Special Session just adjourned with essentially nothing accomplished and the Senate GOP adjourning instead of staying to negotiate. #mnleg

And yet, they are spending their time *willingly* inserting themselves into a lawsuit they have no involvement in.

The resolution to obtain outside counsel and intervene in the lawsuit passed strictly on party lines, 7-3. #mnleg

Talk about a Friday news dump, but here we have "Thursday at 7pm Before the 4th of July Weekend News Dump."
