So first of all, the insane vilification that's happening. People don't consider the 'abusers' as people who did something disgusting and wrong, but they consider those people as human garbage or something. There is no nuance, it's very melodramatic black-and-white thinking.
Who cares, you might say. Why stand up for abusers? Well that's what a lot of people are thinking, few people dare to speak up in fear of being seen as people who defend abusers.
But the truth is extreme vilification has a LOT of terrible consequences. One is that people dont see the abusers as actual humans, who made a mistake. Their mistake is gross, wrong, perhaps unforgivable, but it doesnt change the fact that they're otherwise normal human beings.
Before such events happen there are usually smaller mistakes (red flags) already and, knowing that these events could be caused by anyone, including those who you consider friends, it is important be on the lookout and these smaller mistakes of people.
With this insane vilification people tend to forget that the abusers are players who should've been taught (by anyone, either in their upbringing but also by fellow players) not to make these mistakes. This could have been avoided if that player had been alerted!
Instead people prefer to stick to the narrative that said person is rotten to the core instead of someone who could have taught not to engage in certain behavior. I think its more important to focus on HOW to avoid those people of becoming rotten and doing shitty things.
Now on Twitter I can still understand such reactions, even if I disagree with them and think it isnt the best way to react. Much of the discourse is emotional and everyone has their own right to express their opinion and dismay in whatever way they want, even if I may dislike it.
What I cannot pardon, and that is the second point, is how this behaviour is copied even by the COC. It is SUPER clear that Ally tried to communicate the Nairo case too, but because he was being insanely villified, they just didnt listen to him.
D1 held information away, D. Disciple presumably held information away, in the end this caused massive miscommunication between Drpiggy and Ally, and the former didnt really seem to want to believe what Ally's side had to offer anyway.
This miscommunication wouldnt have happened if the COC took Ally seriously in the first place. If the COC missed this piece of valuable information that Ally DESPERATELY tried to communicate, what more information have they managed to overlook?
This is disgusting and shows complete incompetence. They handled this so badly, it's a disaster. It's your job to provide an objective and complete overview of what happened. This requires you to listen to both sides of the story.
You would have expected a COC that's supposed to consist of professionals to know this but noooo.... they're nothing better than the average Twitter user. It's actually inexcusable.
Also the part where she mentions the Romeo-Juliet clause in Canada to Ally. She says she mentions it because she didnt want this case of a 15 year old and 20 year old (which happened to be about Nairo) to distract from Ally's case.
Now, she says "but Canada's laws are wack anyway, a 15 year old and 20 year old dating is not ok"

wtf??? YOU are the one who tried using the Canadian Romeo-Juliet clause in your favor for your argument, now that the Nairo case becomes known you suddenly disagree with it??
On top of that who are you even to decide whether those laws are 'wack' or not to begin with? Do you understand the position you're in? You use laws only when they favor you so what do you even base your judgments of? Your own moral compass only? So far your "objectivity".
Also, third point, this vilification also comes hand-in-hand with victim purification. It's not to the same extent, since victims can still be doubted. Since I dont want to give victims a hard time for speaking up, I hesitate speaking up about victim purification too.
But I stand by it that in the case of Zack, the victim purification is way too extreme and simply not justified. He's clearly not entirely innocent. Americans seems to love the "victim good perpetrator bad" but they can also both do bad things. There's many questions to be asked.
Asking questions is supposed to be the COC's job in order to investigate the case, find out the truth, collect information about BOTH sides, but the COC seems very reluctant to ask the victim about the truth because "we need to support the victim".
This might sounds harsh, but it's not the COC's job to support the victim. It's the community's job to encourage people to speak up and to support them for having the courage. The COC has to write a truthful objective overview of what happened, even if its hard for the victim.
This is why I'm telling you guys... panels dont work. It's hard work and requires fully trained professionals and even then the system isn't flawless, go figure. Dont leave this to Smashers, they all fucking suck at it. Take shit seriously and go to court.
If that means Nairo or Ally or Hyuga or D1 or Keitaro or Cinnpie or Anti or whoever the fuck ends up in jail, then that's what they deserved. Justice will be served. Panels dont serve justice, they serve bias and non-sense and that's my problem with them.
Anyway I'm not American anyway, I just hope shit like this wont spread to Europe. The COC persists it's useful, many TOs presumably like having it as well. If they want to keep the COC I suggest they heavily reform it.
I hope for the sake of the US scene they'll carefully review what went wrong and what can be done better. There's a reason why so many in the US are dissatisfied with the COC. Despite many liking the idea, the execution is too poor.
