As this week ends, I just want to say I think @TaylorLorenz is a phenomenal reporter who is chronicling and illuminating a whole new area of what’s happening in the world, I hated her tweet about Away CEO who raised some reasonable questions in her personal struggle...
The “media” vs “tech” gap is one of a lack of trust and empathy on both sides right now. It’s hard to make companies and define new products. Lots of mistakes happen and frustrations boil. It’s also important to tell those stories since they impact employees and customers...
And those stories from customers and employees need to be told. Too often companies and leaders get painted as “heroic” or “horrible” when the reality is it changes hourly. Everyone has impostor syndrome. The best stories are told with full context, and need to be.
There are always lots of private chatter - as people try to work through their feelings. Everyone does it. Having those aired publicly until the feelings are worked through is never fun - but that is all part of the process. Might be embarrassing but it’s real.
Still just no place for harassment. Ever.
And I think the true story of Hamilton (Finally! On Disney+!) is that of Aaron Burr - fighting too hard to always be in the room where it happens can drive you to anger and even killing someone. It’s ok to let the rooms happen sometimes if it brings better peace to all.
