Attention: There is an interview given by an Ex-Policeman Mr #Varadharajan. He shared his experienced insights on how a Police Dept. investigates a case like Sushant's. Use this to analyse what is happening now. Video is in Tamil & is summarised below.

He started by saying a co-actor had shared that no one came ahead to support Sush during his problems, and he would've been forced to take such a drastic step. From this it is evident that Sush was going through some problem.
Now whenever there is a sudden suicide, it is normal for people around to suspect murder. Chances of it being a suicide is more because of all the problems. It is the responsibility of the police to verify whether it is.
There have been many cases where suicide by hanging is actually a murder. Even parents have their doubts. Many suicides have been proven to be a murder later. To find if its right or not, is the responsibility of the police.
Thats why whenever there is a hanging, it should never be concluded as suicide. A famous tamil actress of the 70s was involved in a similar case. After enquiring deeply they realised it was a murder. So the police needs to enquire deeply.
For these cases you need a stool. You need to stand on that stool, the stool should contain Sush footprints, this needs to be confirmed. (As of now, no stool was found & no mention of any footprints ever in the crime scene)
PM reports are needed to find out if he was really hung. How they prove it is, they look for injuries on his body. If they find bodily injuries and the body is hung, they shouldn't believe its a suicide. (Evident injury marks on Sush hands and body)
Look for body bruises and marks around the neck. If the rope was put before the death the throat would be hard. The muscles there would be smashed. Nerves and veins broken. Only medically, doctors can verify.
The Viscera report will check if there was poison. Sometimes criminals can give poison and then hang. So many areas need to be analysed for the police to say it's suicide. PM is very important.
Unfortunately PM is not done properly in India. During PM the compounder is the main person. The doctor will only where a handkerchief and have an overview (said sarcastically, as it's done so badly.) They don't conduct PM properly due to lethargic and careless attitude.
So in important cases (like Sush) a court insists on a video evidence of the PM. There will be an order. Only then the PM will be done properly, the culprits can be caught & see if its a suicide or murder. So if these things aren't done by the police, they need to re-investigate
Reporter: From the beginning it has been declared as a suicide, which areas should the police actually enquire?
V: During prima facie, after going through the crime scene, seeing how the body was hung, checking the way he would have gone to hang himself and other evidences police can come to a conclusion. There are forensic evidences for all of these things.
When the person stands on the stool, the way they tie the knot in itself is a clue. For example, if a girl says she was tied and robbed, from the way the knot was tied, it can be said if she tied it and there was a just a false claim of the robbery or otherwise.
Such deep analysis is called a forensic analysis. The way the robber would've tied the knot would be different from how the girl would've tied it. So in Sush case also they have to find out how the knot was done. If he tied, which side the knot, if culprit tied then which side.
Next, call history. Who did he call? The suicide note. Even the note can't be trusted as sometimes criminals write such letters. Then the handwriting is checked through examination. If there is no note, the last conversations he had people should be taken as the suicide note.
That will be the suicidical declaration. The police has to speak to the people he spoke to. Victims generally discuss this. At least say they were in a stressful state. Whatsapp messages are strong evidences too. Only after this the police should conclude about suicide note.
When police see someone has died of suicide by hanging they shouldn't declare it as suicide immediately. They have to follow Section 174 CRP. Because many times the case changes because of the suspicion of near and dear ones. Police should see all this before drawing conclusions.
Report: Eye ball coming out, tongue coming out, is it right way to draw conclusions?
V: No. This need not be the case. It depends on the way the rope was placed. Facial features shouldn't be judged. He (Varadharajan) has personally seen many cases without these signs. Thess facts can only be confirmed by doctors. Everything depends on the rope & pressure applied.
Only doctors can report such facts but in many cases doctors are lax and careless according to his experience. For a person like Sush who is so famous, who has impersonated Dhoni so honestly..Its the police's duty to find the truth.
Reporter: What are the duties in a crime scene that the police should diligently follow?
V: Their observations are very important. How did Sush stand on the ladder, where did he stand, his body position. People around him should be enquired. They will tell many things. Victim must have spoken. Maybe fights the previous day..witnesses need to be properly questioned.
Reporter: Police says its suicide, family says its a murder. There is a hitch. How do you think the case will turn?
V: Fingerprints are very important, check if anybody entered the room. Get evidences of fingerprints of people in the room. Check the prints on the fan. Footprints very important. Need to be observed pakka pakka.
PM takes 2-3 days, generally people proceed with final rites, but the body should be preserved till PM reports come. Then only permission for cremation should be given. If the scene of crime is observed correctly, you can easily come to conclusions.
Reporter: How will the police take the case forward?
V: When police applies Section 174 and he has hung himself, they have to now see if someone had abetted him to suicide. Somebody could've hurt him, maybe its someone who lent him money and what they said to him.
So in those circumstances abetting suicide is the next step and the case will move towards it. If they conclude it the first day itself, that shows they are unprofessional.
The case has to start enquiring in that angle.
Police cannot conclude in one day. Check PM, Viscera, Call records, speak to witnesses, deep analysis then only they can conclude it was a suicide. To come to conclusions people need to be on the spot for investigation. They can't speculate based on media reports.
When the police goes to the scene of crime, they take photographs called the "as in when basis". They take photos without any minute changes also. Even if the victim's watch has fallen on the floor, in whichever position it is, it has to stay there in the place.
So if they go follow media reports, what people say and just jump to conclusions it will be incorrect. So under these circumstances everything is seen pakka pakka (as mentioned above) and whatever conclusions are made are considered right.
Based on what Sush friends say on twitter about him having problems, these friends confirm suicide. So maybe at first glance you can doubt suicide. But only after proper investigation can you draw any conclusions.
