This picture appeared on social media yesterday. It doesn't really surprise me but it's still very depressing to see. So - bit of a rant coming up.

I'm sure lots of my fellow Teessiders will recognise where this picture is taken. For those that don't, this is Eston Nab.
In the late 19th iron-ore mines were discovered under these hills. This discovery led to the development of an iron and steel industry, an industry that led to the development of the towns and villages that have come to make up #teesside.
The industry created hundreds of thousands of jobs. Immigrants came from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and further afield to work in this booming industry and to make better lives for themselve. Most of us are descendants of immigrants - I know I am.
The steel that was produced as a result of the discovery of iron ore has been used in the building of some of the world's most recognisable structures including the #sydneyharbourbridge. Teesside labour, skill and talent really did build the world.
We cheer on a football team that in our recent history contained some of the world's most talented players from around the globe. We went toe to toe with the big boys and we did pretty well. We adopt a diminutive Brazilian and a Uruguayan goalkeeping coach as "ones of our own".
Teesside is a mixture of people of races and of cultures. It always has been and it always will be. All this means I don't get why somebody felt they had to do this. They don't speak for me and I know they don't speak for the vast majority of Teessiders.
However they do seem to speak for a minority that is growing and becoming more vocal. If you agree with the sentiment or if you feel threatened by a movement that is growing because in 2020 black people are not seen as equal citizen's then "giv yer head a wobble.
We need our local leaders to call this out for what it is. @JacobYoungMP and @SimonClarkeMP I'm looking to you. Thankfully @RedcarCleveland are already taking steps to take it down.
