I’m sorry to inform you that racism in Asia isn’t much better than the ones in America or anywhere else. I just find it irritating when people say that Japan, Korea, and China are great places to live without doing proper research. All three country have racism, each is worse—-
than the other one, China discriminates against black people the most out of the three. Japan is more lenient towards people of color more or less, but not very much and the same goes for Korea. It’s just a bit frustrating when people in America think that Asia will welcome POC—
Then you’re dead wrong, racism in Asia isn’t upfront and direct, it’s more of indirect and behind closed doors so you can’t really tell. You’ll have eyes staring at you at all times like you’re some exotic creature that just came into the country. 😐🗿
before you put words in my mouth, you can still visit these countries for vacation. That’s totally fine, but if you wanna live there for a period of time and you’re a POC. You have to be prepared for the consequences. So I’d advise everyone to do some proper research first.
Asia countries don’t even just discriminate against Poc, but its own citizens also gets discrimaianted in one way or the other. I know people don’t like to see this, but it’s better to realize racism exists in every part of the world and America isn’t the only country with it.
from what I know from living in Asia until my early adolescent years until I came to the US, These three asian countries determine your status based on your skin color, to put in simpler term, they’ll treat you more civilly in a sense if you have light or white skin to a degree.
grandparents from China still hate Japanese people and me being interested in Japanese things doesn’t help my case. But all three countries pretty much hate each other due to conflicts in past wars. I don’t fw racism but sometimes it’s unavoidable in Asia and you just accept it
I’m done ranting / venting for now. I should go to sleep now 💤
