Appreciate Peer Reviewers (even Reviewer 2 https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™€ïž" title="Achselzuckende Frau (heller Hautton)" aria-label="Emoji: Achselzuckende Frau (heller Hautton)">) they’re just as disappointed when your work gets rejected. As an author, I am frustrated with contradicting reviews, but I am also a Peer Reviewer; the differences in analysis are validhttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ€šđŸŒ" title="Erhobener HandrĂŒcken (mittelheller Hautton)" aria-label="Emoji: Erhobener HandrĂŒcken (mittelheller Hautton)">
Appreciate Editors.
Their decision is based on Peer Review feedback that will either disappoint an author, propel one to restructure, or make their day https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ€”" title="Denkendes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Denkendes Gesicht">
One doesn’t have to be an editor to appreciate this arduous task.
I’ve published 8 articles. 3 more on the way. So what. That’s just numbers. I’m truly humbled each time I see “accepted” like it’s the first https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😼" title="Gesicht mit offenem Mund" aria-label="Emoji: Gesicht mit offenem Mund">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ€" title="Gesicht mit Hand ĂŒber dem Mund" aria-label="Emoji: Gesicht mit Hand ĂŒber dem Mund">
This logic of novice joy is useful in life in general.
I’ve been rejected a great deal
I’ll probably be rejected more.
I hit pause on the manuscript. I reflect on my intent, my approach. Often I start a new manuscript before I revise the rejected one. There’s a sort of clarity in the new.
Know your target audience.

This may determine the appropriate (non predatory) journal
I’ve been challenged by people why I’ve chosen mainstream journals. My answer “that’s where the target audience is.” Author’s choice is valid.
Support fellow authors.
People have odd responses when you tell them you’re published/rejected. It’s all good. Let that https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ’©" title="Dreckshaufen" aria-label="Emoji: Dreckshaufen"> go.
There’s tons of room for all the research & ideas in all the journals of the world https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😍" title="LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit herzförmigen Augen" aria-label="Emoji: LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit herzförmigen Augen">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🌎" title="Amerika auf dem Globus" aria-label="Emoji: Amerika auf dem Globus">
The wait is categorically indeterminate. I’ve either waited 1 week or 8 months and I have definitely followed up (respectfully, not in a stalking “what the heck?!” way https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😊" title="LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit lĂ€chelnden Augen" aria-label="Emoji: LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit lĂ€chelnden Augen">)
Final thoughts:
If it wasn’t for a Peer Reviewer back in 2016 who perhaps saw something of worth others wanted to trash, I would not be published
Be patient with yourself.
Be patient with the process
Observe rejection...don’t make it final
