Story of how we met isn't a very long one. We met at an event hosted for Mufti Menk( an Islamic scholar ) the first time he came to Nigeria.

I got home and was checking my IG when I saw a picture of him and Mufti Menk trending.
I flipped through twice and I decided to comment "I saw you yesterday" when I came across the picture for the third time.
He replied "where"and later DMed me. That was how we got talking.

We talked about anything and everything. It was so refreshing because he was easy to talk to and was a very good listener.
We were both going through a break up at that moment. And for me it was a "no men zone" I said I was done dating

He decided to ask me out one faithful morning after months of being friends. I was still a mess mentally and emotionally.
I gave up on relationships then because dating with a disability is filled with chains of heart break and lots of disappointment.

I thought history was going to repeat itself.
I liked him a lot I couldn't deny that but my guards were too high to let him in fully.
Our first year was a roller coaster. We had so many highs and lows. He did his research on my condition, without my knowledge.

Every time I try to scare him away with the complications that comes with it he replies with "I know".
I remember that time he told me " baby no matter what you do you can't push me away. I will only back off when you tell me to"

He made sure that I knew his feelings and intentions were real.
He was patient enough to let me heal, to let go of my fear and doubts, he taught me what love truly is and made me realize that I deserved it in its purest form.

Dating someone with a disability also comes with lots of hardship, he went through the stigma I went through.
People look at him and ask why of all people he chose me, they tried to project their doubts and fears in him.

He was told that he won't be able to take care of me because disability is expensive, that I could not give birth because of my condition but the more they talked the more he showed interest.
This made me realize that when a man wants to be with you, nothing will stop him.

We started talking about marriage but I told him I couldnât say yes until I know what his family thinks.
He went back home and his mom gave us her blessing and that was when I finally let him in.

He took me on our first date (my first date ever) and I was on cloud nine.
We started preparing for our wedding.
We did the introduction on 4th October 2018 and did the wedding on 5th October 2019 (my birthday).

Marrying him is the best decision I've ever made in my life and everyday he makes me realize that I truly made the right choice.
