In advance of this weekend (and our subsequent reopening on 9th at Borough) I thought it might be worth reintroducing you to the concept of a restaurant.
So. Restaurants. A thread.
So. Restaurants. A thread.
Restaurants serve food made by professionals who have trained all their lives to make it well. There’s lots of choice but the best bit is that what you eat for dinner on Friday wasn’t decided 10 days previously on http://Sainsburys.com but 15 mins before based on what you want.
In fact you don’t have to shop at all. The restaurant does that and you only need to think about whether they feel like you do about what tastes nice, where to buy from, the ethics of it all and what is a reasonable price. If you’ve been before you don’t have to decide again.
And these chefs, right, not only are they trained but they don’t *give you the look* that says, ‘we’ve cooked it, so you wash up’ and even if they are messy (they’re not, but get this!) YOU DON’T CARE.
They aren’t the only people in a restaurant. People are there who are *always* pleased to see you when you come in. They do things like take your coat, bring you food or check if you’re OK. They *never* shout your name up the stairs or make you feel like you’re not doing enough.
At a restaurant no one raises an eyebrow and says ‘already?’ or ‘another one?’ if you fancy a drink. Well, only if you’ve genuinely gone a bit far and even then its for your own good. And restaurants have almost every drink you can imagine and YET MORE trained professionals.
They’re basically really nice, clean, well run places. They have people in them. That might sound odd now, but you’ll get used to it. Trust me, it’s the future and it’s glorious.
