If digital ballot images are preserved & made publicly available (as they shld be), citizens can compare the totals reflected in the images to reported election totals. The two should match. If they don’t, that’s a problem. Why wld officials want to destroy these images?! 5/
Note that ballot images are themselves hackable. Thus, a match between the images and the reported result does not necessarily indicate a “clean” election. But a mismatch certainly wld warrant investigation. 6/
