While I am delighted that bars & restaurants are opening again, it’s important to remember that Irish people are the most difficult customers to please, and we were stupid to think they would be happy to just get out again -

we had to get strict about not letting people order a drink until they place a food order, because they would suddenly not be hungry once they get their pint.

We have signs saying “one way system in operation” with the appropriate arrows, a big “please wait to be seated” sign, “please sanitise your hands before entry” signs, and you’ll still get some cunt seating themselves and complaining they haven’t been attended to
also why do people love to sit at a dirty table??
We have 20 tables, pre covid we had 33, but some wanker will always walk in and sit at the only uncleared table and complain it needs to be cleaned.

It seems so ridiculous to call a “clean” table “safe” but that is the way life has to be now.
Anyone in the building could have unknowingly carried COVID 19, so I’m sorry Karen that you don’t want to use sanitiser or wait to be seated but that’s just how things are now!

Also just so everyone knows, it’s not bad service that you don’t have salt & peppers and sauces on your table, we are genuinely not allowed to have anything on the table unless it’s requested and disposed of after because it can be “unnecessaryly contaminated”
Today we hit a new low, a man asked to book a table for dinner and demands I give him a pint there and then since he “would be coming back later” but I said no, he storms off, but then I checked in three other bar/restaurants and he tried it all with them too.
Although this evening everyone is really lovely and saying nice things and asking am I happy to be back and how is business going.
More people like this please it really makes service staff feel appreciated

Just had an argument with a lady who is staying in a guesthouse across the road and wants to come in for just some drinks.

Had our first check in by the Gardai, they were very sound and just said it’s a nationwide initiative
I was freaking thinking they would go mental at me as tables that had finished dinner were still sitting with drinks but it was fine

Also we would really appreciate if you email to request a booking, I’m sorry if I seem rude on the phone but I’m not very concerned about a table of two in august when you ring in the middle of today’s lunch rush.
