Let’s focus on Texas first:
Houston. Screwston. HTown. This is one of the largest cities in the nation and often cited as the most diverse. Nearly 200 languages are spoken here.

There are countless organizations in Houston fighting for equality for BIPOC people, the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, etc.
Do people outside Texas/the South not see them?
Do people outside Texas/the South not see them?
Now, I gave a lil extra love to Space City because that’s my home. But Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and the RGV are just as (or at least almost as) diverse as Houston. These are all lil blue islands in Texas’ sea of red.
Okay, Austin’s pretty white, but we love them anyway. I digress.
Okay, the South:
New Orleans & Atlanta.
These are some badass cities. Now, everyone in Houston knows someone in ATL and vice versa. We’re basically sister cities lmao.

NOLA and ATL are diverse as heck. Again, countless grassroots organizations working to further equality.
So, elitist anti-South liberal activists… y’all don’t see them either?

HTX (HOU), ATX, DFW, ATL, NOLA… all queer meccas for Southerners who don’t fly out to LA, SanFran, or NYC. We don’t ALL go to the East/West Coast. MANY of us stay here, and THRIVE here, on the Third Coast.
Y’all, I’m tired. As an activist myself, I’m tired of being on the same side as liberals who live outside the South, only to see tone deaf fuckery come outta them like “Fuck Texas” or “Fuck the South” or “Let’s divide the country at the Mason-Dixon & let them fend for themselves.
Like, can’t y’all use your platforms for something productive? Do your fucking research and find the names of these organizations based in the South and promote them! HELP US BRING CHANGE. Stop being an elitist dick!
And yeah, /I get it/. You don’t mean any harm. You’re just expressing your disapproval with politics and society in the South.
Not a good enough excuse. Not to those of us who are actually putting in work toward equitable chance.
