So you remember a couple of months ago when we were in the peak and you wanted to do something to help, but there was nothing you could do, so you stood on your doorstep and clapped? Remember that feeling? All you wanted was to be able to help somehow? Well now is your chance. 1/
We, the NHS, need you to help us. We need you to stay home this weekend. I know it's been ages, and you want to go for a drink with your mates and have a laugh, and you're tired and bored and want this all to be over. BUT IT'S NOT OVER YET. 2/
The police are expecting New-Years-Eve levels of people out drinking this weekend. Which is exactly the opposite of what we all need. Look at the US, do you want that kind of second wave? 3/
I know, it sucks, but it's gonna suck a lot more if you get covid, or you give it to your mum, or your gran, or your kid. It's gonna suck a lot more if we get a second wave and go into lockdown again. 4/
And then you'll be on your doorstep clapping again, while the rest of us drive to work through deserted streets and sweat through three layers of PPE while dealing with the fallout and the death... And you'll be saying you wish you could help somehow... 5/
Please. Just stay home a little longer. Maybe go out for a quiet drink midweek instead. Stay local. Stay outdoors. Stay 2 metres apart. We've all of us sacrificed a lot over the past few months. Don't let it go to waste now. Please. 6/
