And to be clear: I know of many books that are great, but her department literally had her read Catcher in the Rye, some Shakespeare, and Tale of Two Cities this year. So I think they'd need a curated Instead of...Read... list.

ALSO! I was curious about the demographics of her school (in a major city), and it's about 1/4 each white, Latinx, Black and Asian. So. Good freaking lord let's help these kids see themselves in their reading.
