Just listened to @pennykittle & @Mattglover123 talk about craft & process units for @booklove4life , & it inspired us to think about ways to start the year to engage kids & get to know/empower them as Readers & Writers.
What if we started w/a Self Direction (finding & developing an independent project) Unit? Could we do that across a school & in all contents? (Get to know kids as Mathematicians, Artists, Scientists, Historian, etc?
Could it help kids & teachers in changing blended, remote, face-to-face learning situations to direct their own learning & teaching better? Develop collective efficacy?
If we had conversations around empowerment across classes and contents, could we all develop what @GholdyM calls our “genius” - teachers AND students? #CultivatingGenius
After that unit, we could then develop units around the craft and processes we need students to learn in all contents.
