Virtual learning doesn’t work and requires a parent, usually the mom, to be the all-day teacher’s assistant. Plus it leaves kids who were already behind for various reasons in the dust. This column says everything I’ve been thinking. Wish I’d written it! https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/02/business/covid-economy-parents-kids-career-homeschooling.html">https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/0...
Another great point from this piece I’ve been thinking about: the hybrid idea will mean lots of kids will be mixing with other kids at daycare in their non-school days/weeks, meaning more exposure to the virus, not less.
Another interesting read on why pediatricians say it& #39;s crucial to open schools & why virtual learning doesn& #39;t work. "As a country, we should be doing everything we can right now, for lots of reasons, to make sure we can safely reopen schools in the fall." https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/30/us/coronavirus-schools-reopening-guidelines-aap.html?smid=em-share">https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/3...
If you have a child in the San Francisco public schools, you can take a survey to let your voice be heard on what should happen in the fall: https://www.sfusd.edu/ ">https://www.sfusd.edu/">...
Another important read on opening schools. Why is America prioritizing the opening of bars, restaurants, gyms, nail salons, etc., over schools? Children’s needs must be much higher up the list. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/01/opinion/coronavirus-schools.html?smid=fb-share">https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/0...
“Schools are not a luxury item.” To me, schools are in the same crucial category as hospitals and grocery stores. Why are we talking about them less than bars, restaurants and gyms? https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/07/01/reopen-schools-close-bars/">https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2...
