During my last visit in Palestine my cousin was telling me that during the Nakba when Palestinians fled their homes, amongst them were poets, and writers, who assumed, like everyone else they would return after a few days & so they left behind everything, including unfinished
works and works in the process of being published. However as the infamous story goes, they were not able to return to their homes, let alone their writings. Instead in later years they would soon read their own words in published books by Israelis. Whether it would
be excerpts of their writing or full works, they would read their own words back to themselves and discover that they too, were stolen. We’re all fully aware of the consequences of plagiarism, but what happens when it is a displaced Palestinian who is being plagiarised?
