Really excited that it's medicine & health day for #MuseumsUnlocked

We'll be sharing #PharmHist museums & collections throughout the day- & would love to see your favourites!
We have to start with @rpharms #RPS Museum as the 'mothership' of #pharmacy museums in the UK. Founded in 1842, it has an amazing collection. More info here, including some super useful online resources https://www.rpharms.com/about-us/museum/learning-resources
You can also find lots of #PharmHist in other medical museums including many of our friends @medicalmuseums. @RCPMuseum has the gorgeous Hoffbrand collection of English delftware drug jars https://www.rcplondon.ac.uk/news/hoffbrand-collection
When @ScienceMuseum opened their #MedicineGalleries last year, we were thrilled by Gibson's pharmacy. There's plenty of other #PharmHist on display including a jaw-dropping medicine chest & interactives exploring medicines development today https://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/see-and-do/medicine-wellcome-galleries
Although @ThackrayMuseum is currently closed, we can't wait for it to re-open to see how they've shared their incredible collections. As well as the fab Wilkinson drug jars, they have oodles of #PharmHist material. Watch out for their new website launch: https://www.thackraymedicalmuseum.co.uk/
Around the country, there are lots of gorgeous pharmacy shops inside museums. One of our favourites is @MKMuseum http://www.miltonkeynesmuseum.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/the-chemist.jpg
The joy of @Twitter is that you can even follow historical pharmacists (or apothecaries in this case). @ApothecaryTrevis based @GMMedicalMuseum
The pharmacy @blistshill is perhaps most famous for its appearance in Lion TV's 'The Victorian Pharmacy', where it was transformed into a working shop staffed by Prof Nick Barber, Tom Quick and #RuthGoodman!
If you go further back in history, @ApothecariesLDN & its amazing 17th century hall is packed full of #PharmHist from more than 4 centuries of history & @FacultyHP runs a programme of lectures, events & courses that explore #PharmHist themes https://www.apothecaries.org/history/
One of the most iconic #PharmHist locations is the Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, where you can stand in the footsteps of the discoverer of penicillin

The Herb Garret @OldOpTheatre is an incredibly atmospheric place to soak up pharmacy history, from the dried medicinal plants to the medicine bottles. Their online collections explorer can be filtered to "pharmacy" - look at all of these lovely objects! https://ehive.com/objects?accountId=6025&facet=account_name_facet%3AOld+Operating+Theatre+Museum+%26+Herb+Garret%2C+London&facet=association_keyword_facet%3APharmacy
The #EconomicBotanyCollection @KewScience @KewMobileMuseum is a huge cornucopia of useful plants. Amongst cricket bats & barkcloth cloaks are many #PharmHist objects, including a large collection transferred from @rpharms
We couldn't miss out @WellcomeCollection & @WellcomeLibrary who uncover #PharmHist themes in exhibitions & events & through their huge library and archive collections!

Plus an online #PharmHist including this fab 6-part story about 'Pharmagraphics' https://wellcomecollection.org/series/WcpOjygAAJsLEXTc
That's it for today – thanks for joining our #PharmHist highlights #MuseumsUnlocked tour! Which of your favourites have we missed?
