ICU RN Pro-tip:

When a new resident does a procedure for the first time be really excited for them (not condescendingly so) and ask them if they want their picture taken. Like insist on it, i.e. their mom will want it, they can put it in their scrapbook, etc.

They’ll laugh, be bashful, and wave you off. But they’ll come back at some point in the shift if not to get their pic taken, at least to ask some questions and get a little more encouragement.

And boom, that is how you become a Work Mom. Now watch out for your new kid.

(And obviously if you DO take a pic no pt info, HIPAA violation, or social media policy violations, please. Mostly just them grinning like a cheeseball, proud and having a blast doing what they’ve worked really hard to be able to do.)
