the phrase "believe victims" doesn't equate to "guilty until proven innocent" for the accused, it means that we need to create an environment where people can come forward with their experiences of abuse within the community and expect to be taken seriously (1/3)

too many times have people come forward and been silenced (oftentimes cuz of misogyny)
situations like we have now are created by environments where people feel like they cant come forward, especially against powerful community leaders (2/3)

who can easily control the narrative and silence anyone who tries to reveal whats been going on. we gotta keep the momentum we have right now going forward and take everything seriously. saying this is "cancel culture" diminishes the experiences of actual victims (3/3)
