Over the past few months general practice has changed radically to work safely for staff and patients. We have today agreed our revised plan for dealing with non residents and will publish and email this to local businesses in the next few days in advance of 4 July.
Non residents will be encouraged to access their home surgery online or via telephone triage or to use other services such as 111 first. Home surgeries can now issue prescriptions to pharmacies in the Lakes & many things can be dealt with without the need for face to face contact
As with our residents , non residents should not attend either of our sites in Hawkshead or Ambleside unless they have an agreed appointment. They will be asked to follow the same safety procedures as all people have to on our sites.
We remain open for urgent treatment which cannot be obtained elsewhere but we must reduce the normal face to face demand we have over the busy tourist season to reduce risk. Covid outbreaks can result in GP practices having to close for two weeks.
Please therefore work with us by helping any guests follow the advice to ensure we have safe and accessible services. COVID remains in the community but can be managed if everyone follows the advice.
