#WINWIN’s dance is criminally underrated. I suppose this could be due to most not having a dance background, especially one in chinese dance. Hopefully this thread will shed light onto how spectacular #董思成’s skills are after years of professional training
while we don’t know when winwin started dancing, we do know he had been performing since at least 2006. this is a 2007 performance of the same routine 《温州姆》。 winwin is denoted by the 🐥

another predebut performance of winwin’s while he was in elementary school, this time in 2009. more in this thread here: https://twitter.com/sublime1028/status/1139350453752406018
winwin would later be admitted into beijing dance academy’s (china’s top dance school) middle school div and would move onto their highschool. he would also rank 1st in their entrance exam

p4 details what the entrance exam entails — part of which is an improv and original choreo
fun fact: the major he was going for is in collaboration with new zealand’s unitec institute of technology and part of the entrance exam is actually an english oral exam (p4: 终试(3)). graduates would be awarded a double degree.

a couple of moves you commonly see winwin pull in his (mere handful of) stages
1. 单腿前桥 or in english, front walkover

the dancer lunges forward, raising one leg then the other into a handstand before recovering. this was the move modified for firetruck’s stage performances instead of the 云里前桥 in the mv
2. 云里前桥 lit. forward bridge in the clouds

requires great leg strength to achieve height. it is more difficult for men due to the needed back and leg flexibility. a “killer” in exams. the head stays in place and the move does not make use of the dancer’s arms unlike 单腿前桥.
3. 扫堂探海转(+跨腿转)
technically 3 different spins but commonly put together in a sequence. #WINWIN, despite such a cramped setting, is able to gain enough traction to spin and transition smoothly from one move to another. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
i got lazy but here’s a whole thread of winwin’s moves. go through it to learn the different nuances that makes each flip unique👇🏼 https://twitter.com/d__sc/status/1148636338695991297
finally! the reason why i made this whole thread fan dances are part of chinese culture but it is not exclusive to us. this is a clip of #WINWIN’s own choreography that he performed on 《天天向上》when he went with his 《我们的师父》cast
however, earlier, #WINWIN performed on MBC’s south korean foreigners! it was said that he has gained interest in korean dance and has been learning. despite his busy schedule, winwin still takes it upon himself to branch out and further his skills
i’m not well-verse enough to show you a difference between the two styles but the biggest tell is the music. the korean fan dance utilises drums more? someone more knowledgeable please help 😣
#WINWIN already has an extensive background in traditional chinese dance and has obviously explores dance outside of his own style a la nct/wayv’s choreography. even taking on modern dance in ‘Lovely’.
#WINWIN is not afraid of going out of his comfort zone and trying something new! Given the opportunity, he will take it. So if @SMTOWNGLOBAL and @WayV_official just give him a stage, he will definitely show a newer side of him (ง︡’-‘︠)ง
