they compare the standards of living, both in capitalist and socialist countries.

It was done in 1981 and it's based on Wold Bank's data.

I have to say that it was done in a time that
there was already decline in socialist countries (to cover in the future).

First fact... people in socialist ones had more calories per capita (more 12% to 15%)...

and imagine... they exceeded the 100% requirement.. surplus!

Also in USSR, the economic stats are pretty clear and show that they were the second economy in the world... and the only competitor (US) had started the industrialization process... almost 150 year BEFORE!
