Here's my contribution for #AwakeTheSnake!! A house tour with the flash bastard of Mayfair (a thread) #GoodOmens [1/x]
This how I pictured the floor plan
I needed to think about it coherently because we only see Crowley's flat 4 times the entire show, in EO2 and E04. (Disclaimer: I am not an interior designer, only a v dedicated fan.) #AwakeTheSnake [2/x]
Crowley doesn’t have a living room, only an office. His throne and table are likely inspired by Sun King Louis XIV, very lavish and ornate (imagine Versailles!) #AwakeTheSnake [3/x]
Check out the details – are those cherubs and snakes on the table??? #AwakeTheSnake [4/x]
The only items on Crowley’s red marble tabletop: an old-fashioned answering machine, a notebook bound in what looks like snakeskin, a pen, and a small chest (also Louis XIV-inspired?) #AwakeTheSnake [5/x]
The good folks over at Reddit pointed out that Crowley’s throne looks very much like the throne used in Supernatural. (A wild Michael Sheen appeared!) #AwakeTheSnake [6/x]
First item of dĂ©cor we see is an iconic piece of Hollywood memorabilia, the Maltese Falcon, the most valuable movie prop in history (sold at $4.1M). Its backstory is WILD. I’m not going down that rabbit hole here, but it is so interesting. #AwakeTheSnake [7/x]
Da Vinci’s sketch of the Mona Lisa. In the book, Crowley and Da Vinci agreed it was superior to the final painting. Inscribed: Al mio amico Antonio dal tuo amico Leo da V., “To my friend Anthony from your friend Leo da V.” #AwakeTheSnake [8/x]
The Mona Lisa was begun in 1503, which means Crowley had already been using “Anthony” for over 400 years before Aziraphale found out about it in 1941. (Couple portraits for your enjoyment, done in the same style.) #AwakeTheSnake [9/x]
This is probably a good time to let you know that in the book, the code to the safe is “4-0-0-4” – the year the Earth was created. (The year Crowley met Aziraphale.) #AwakeTheSnake [10/x]
I blanked out on this vase. Is it pewter? Also probably super old with some insane backstory, going by all the rest of the décor. Any ideas? #AwakeTheSnake [11/x]
The Brutalist aesthetic only came around post-WW2, first coined in 1949. It fell out of fashion in the 1980s and only came back in the 2000s, so it’s fairly modern. Interesting contrast to how old most of the dĂ©cor is. Ditto the flat screen TV. #AwakeTheSnake [12/x]
First glimpse of the statues of the angels. “Good and evil wrestling with evil triumphing,” according to production designer Michael Ralph. As @neilhimself said, “
are you certain that they’re wrestling?” #AwakeTheSnake [13/x]
The plants are directly across Crowley’s bedroom, and there is only a glass sliding door between them. Does Crowley just always want them to be reminded of his presence or does he just like the view? #AwakeTheSnake [14/x]
I saw someone talking about this a while back. I can’t remember what the view outside the window is, only that it doesn’t match up with where the flat is actually located. Pls send help #AwakeTheSnake [15/x]
The ceiling of Crowley’s flat is
ridiculously high. I already know it’s a fancy ass flat but still. #AwakeTheSnake [16/x]
The famous eagle lectern. Can we just take a moment to appreciate this shot? I love the cinematographer of this show istg. Also, the lectern is directly across the statue of the angels at the other end of the hall. #AwakeTheSnake [17/x]
Crowley takes the lectern from the church in 1941 as a souvenir (I’m not crying shut up). Brutalist architecture first came into vogue in 1949 post-WW2, so that’s an 8-year gap. When did he move to Mayfair? Was he just lugging it around for 8 years?? #AwakeTheSnake [18/x]
He really just has snake ornaments everywhere, the way Aziraphale has angel-themed stuff all over the bookshop. #AwakeTheSnake [19/x]
Always found it interesting that the throne is turned away from the door. First instinct would be to watch your back, but I guess Crowley wouldn’t be caught dead looking anything less than cool and unbothered. #AwakeTheSnake [20/x]
Don’t you wonder about the photo he uses? Is it a selfie?Did Aziraphale take it?? I have so many questions #AwakeTheSnake [21/x]
Anyway, I know I’ve posted this before, but
 Hastur’s wig lmao #AwakeTheSnake [22/x]
Here’s Aziraphale-as-Crowley outside the flat. Does he always just park the Bentley on the road? Is that allowed?? (Bonus: tartan is stylish.) #AwakeTheSnake [23/x]
To wrap this all up, a reminder that Mayfair is only 6 minutes away from Soho by car – but with Crowley driving the Bentley, it probably takes less than 2. #AwakeTheSnake [24/24]
YO WAIT ONE LAST THING - The Maltese Falcon movie was released in 1941, the year Crowley saves Aziraphale from the church. Wiki summary: it follows a private detective and his dealings with 3 unscrupulous adventurers who are competing to obtain a jewel-encrusted falcon statuette.
HOLY SHIT IT'S BASICALLY THE WHOLE CHURCH SCENE? CROWLEY IMAGINES HIMSELF AS SEXY AND COOL AS HUMPHREY BOGART? OMFG KILL ME NOW
